Step 1.Connect Android Phone/Tablet to computer with digital cable.
Run Potatoshare Android Data Recovery, and connect your Android device to computer via a USB cable. Note: You'd better connect only one Android device at a time.
Step 2. Enable USB Debugging
If you want to recover lost Android contacts and text messages, you must enable USB debugging.
1.For Android 2.3 or earlier: go to "Settings" > "Applications" > "Development", check "USB debugging".
2.For Android 3.0 to 4.1: "Settings" > "Developer options" > "USB debugging".
3.For Android 4.2 or newer: goto "Settings" > "About device", tap "Build number" for several times until the note "You are under developer mode" appears. Then go back to "Settings" > "Developer options" > "USB debugging"
Note: If you want to recoevr lost photos, audio, videos and other document files from SD card, please enable USB Storage as follow:
1.For Android 2.3 or earlier: Dropdown Notifications, click "USB Connected" and check "Turn on USB storage".
2.For Android 4.0 or newer: "Settings" > "Wireless and Network" > "USB utilities" > "Connect storage to PC" > "Turn on USB storage".
Step 3. Start Searching the Lost Data on Android Device.
First select the file type you want to recover, the recovery of contacts and SMS is fairly fast, while the recoevry of photos, audio, videos and other documents may take a few miniutes. If the Superuser Request pops up on your Android phone screen, please select "Allow" and click Remember, then click "Start" and do not disconnect your device during scanning.
Note: Please make sure your device has been rooted, otherwise the contacts, text messages and call history can not be found.
Step 4. Preview and Recover the Android Data.
When the scanning finishs, you are able to preview the contacts, text messages, photos before recovering. For Contacts and Messages, all lost data and existed data are displayed in a list and the lost data are red color.
Select the wanted data and click "Recover" to save the loast Android data to local PC. The contacts and messages will be saved in .txt file while photos, audio, videos and document files will be saved in original format.
